TV presenters officially launch BBC Gardeners’ World Live alongside BBC Good Food Show

TV favourites, Monty Don, Carol Klein, Joe Swift, Nick Bailey, Mark Lane and Adam Frost, have officially launched BBC Gardeners’ World Live which starts today alongside the BBC Good Food Show. 

Taking place from 15th – 18th June, the UK’s biggest food and gardening show has opened its doors at the NEC for what is set to be the best show yet with over 90,000 visitors expected. 

The Shows are packed with garden inspiration, artisan food and drink. Plus, the UK’s most famous gardeners and food experts, including Monty Don, Mary Berry, Alan Titchmarsh and James Martin, will be on hand to deliver live demonstrations, interviews and Q&As. 

Every ticket includes entry to both shows and under 18s go completely free over the weekend. 

The esteemed panel of Show Garden assessors have announced that all 24 Show Gardens, Small Gardens and Beautiful Borders have been given prestigious awards, of which nine were Gold. ‘Best in Show’ was awarded to the Wyevale Garden Centres ‘Romance in the Ruins’ Garden, designed by Claudia de Yong.

Marking the 50th year of BBC Two’s Gardeners’ World, BBC Gardeners’ World Live will be jam-packed with 50th anniversary celebrations and entertainment for all the family to enjoy. 

As well as wall-to-wall garden inspiration, unbeatable shopping and magic gardening moments around every corner, there will be live music each day, a vintage tea tent, face painting, Father’s Day card workshops, craft sessions, picnics, street food, Pimm’s, fizz, and a very special spiced beetroot birthday cake, recipe created by the talented Nadiya Hussain. 

BBC Two’s Gardeners’ World film crew have been at the show filming for the special anniversary programme that will be aired on Friday 16th June, 8pm BBC Two, and will include the crowning of the Gardeners’ World Golden Jubilee Plant by Mary Berry. 

Show highlights will be Paul Stone’s Gold Award-winning Nostalgia Garden – a vintage village scene from 1967 complete with a garden centre featuring an original Flymo – and David Steven’s Gold Award-winning Anniversary Garden, which will take visitors on a journey through gardening styles from the past half a century.

Over at the BBC Good Food Show, visitors will have access to the UK’s top chefs and experts, the latest culinary trends and topics, plus a fantastic selection of independent and artisan producers alongside big name brands. 

Ticket holders will be able to visit the Supertheatre which showcases some of the UK’s favourite top chefs cooking live in a unique 30 minute theatre experience. 

Taking to the stage this year will be; Michelin masters, Tom Kerridge and Michel Roux Jr; queen of baking, Mary Berry; firm show favourite, James Martin; the fantastic Two Greedy Italians, Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo; and star cook and baker, Nadiya Hussain. 

This year’s line-up sees the addition of the free ‘Eat Like a Local’ Supertheatre sessions, featuring local chefs, Luke Tipping from Simpsons in Edgbaston and Adam Bennett from The Cross, Kenilworth. 

Joe Wicks, aka the Body Coach, will be at the show for the very first time, as he brings his enthusiasm and hugely popular nutritional and healthy dishes to the stage. 

And for BBC Good Food magazine lovers, Barney Desmazery will be heading up the BBC Good Food stage where he’ll be joined by his Good Food Test Kitchen colleague Sophie Godwin as she demonstrates her favourite dishes for the season and interviews guest chefs and experts. 

Birmingham’s street food champions, Digbeth Dining Club, and newly opened Tom’s Kitchen Birmingham will also be making their mark at the show for the first time ever. Digbeth Dining Club will be showcasing three of its street food traders at the show, including Boo-Fes Italian, Habaneros and Pietanic, and chefs from Tom’s Kitchen Birmingham will be serving a selection of delicious taster dishes, from comforting mac and cheese to BBQ pulled pork. 

The combined show entry offers a fantastic day out for all the family.
