Love and Confetti in the air at Birmingham Repertory Theatre
Birmingham Repertory Theatre has hosted its first wedding on stage. The theatre, situated in Birmingham’s Centenary Square, recently became a licensed venue for weddings offering happy couples the opportunity to take centre stage on their special day.
Dr Francesco Manfredonia, a Consultant Neurologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Paul Pahiti, who works in Procurement for Eversheds, married in the dramatic surroundings of The REP’s STUDIO Theatre on Saturday 6 June. The two grooms were thrilled to be the first couple to take centre stage at the iconic venue and continued their celebrations with a reception in the theatre’s banqueting suites. The REP’s wedding service went beyond simply providing a venue with the theatre’s team of highly skilled event planners and technical staff offering their expertise to ensure the big day was a theatrical one complete with sound, lighting and confetti cannons.
Speaking about their wedding day, Francesco and Paul said:
The REP has helped us make a dream come true. They have been there with us all the time. They have been scrupulous and attentive and have listened to us and complied to all our requests.
They have always been patient with us when at times we were a little bit nervous and challenging. The REP has not only organised our event in an impeccable way while accommodating our guests, many coming from different countries, but they also catered for everybody's needs and gave us helpful tips on how to shape our ceremony.
As a venue, The REP is set in a great central location in Birmingham which makes it very convenient and appealing. The venue itself creates a dramatic effect while being connected to the Library of Birmingham and is situated front of a lovely square. It has a truly colourful and vibrant atmosphere inside and we really enjoyed having our ceremony and reception there as it offered something unique and different to most other venues.
Catering for the event was by Just Good Food and the day was captured by Amy-Rose photography.
The REP is fully licensed for marriage ceremonies and couples can tie the knot while treading the boards in the impressive setting of the theatre’s main auditorium, which has a capacity of over 800, or the more intimate STUDIO or DOOR theatres, which holds between 140 to 300 people. The theatre’s banqueting suites overlooking Centenary Square also offer the perfect space for a reception.
The REP is a flexible and unique wedding venue where the theatre’s dedicated team can add a touch of drama and flair to a couple’s big day making it extra special and truly memorable.
Suzanna Reid, Events and Marketing Manager at Birmingham Repertory Theatre said:
A unique wedding requires a truly dramatic setting and The REP is ideal for couples who prefera more theatrical experience for their guests. The REP offers a dynamic and hugely creative environment with lots of interesting spaces for couples to hold their reception, ceremony and party. We also ensure that the special day receives the same attention to detail we would give to our spectacular productions on stage.
Weddings form part of a wider range of events, activities and services now on offer at The REP. The theatre hires out its spaces for conferences, business meetings and awards ceremonies and has hosted over 600 events in the last two years with clients including Birmingham City Council, Trinity Mirror, Grant Thornton, Orion Media and the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
